I’m deviating from the norm
this week by not writing about my direct ancestors however moderately about two nice uncles on my father’s aspect of the household.

This weblog submit is a
compilation of a number of weblog posts I beforehand wrote in regards to the Carrett household’s

Charles
Arthur Stanley Carrett was born seventh March 1891 at Seaview Avenue, Dulwich Hill,
Marrickville, and baptized on twenty sixth April at St Stephen’s, Newtown[i]

Leslie
Irving Claude Carrett was born on 14th June 1896 in Dubbo[ii]

They have been
the youthful brothers of my nice grandfather George Henry Charles Carrett.  Their dad and mom have been George and Sarah Carrett
(nee Shops).  There have been 9 youngsters
within the household and my great-grandfather was the eldest.  He was born in 1879 so Charles was 12 years
youthful and Leslie was 17 years youthful than my great-grandfather.

1913 – Older brother George and his spouse Daisy live at Flinders Street Canterbury.  George is described as a builder.  His father, George Henry II resides round
the nook in Riverview highway along with his spouse Sarah and daughter Mary Ann.  Charles, George Henry III’s brother, and spouse
Louisa live in Bass Street.[iii] 

In 1915 Charles is proven as dwelling at Bass Street Canterbury within the Sands Listing.[vi]

Married Life

Marriage

Charles
married Louisa Agnes Larson in 1912 at Marrickville in New South Wales.[iv]

Leslie
married Alice M Sheldon in 1919 at Marrickville, New South Wales[v]

Youngsters’s
Delivery Dates/Locations:

No youngsters
discovered born to Charles and Louisa.

Alice Joyce
Carrett born to Leslie and Alice in 1920.[vii]
Betty one other daughter was born later.

Battle Service

Leslie tried
to enlist however was rejected on medical grounds.  I used to be in a position to view his document yesterday however for some odd motive can not open it correctly at the moment.  You may see it here.

Charles enlisted
on 15 Could 1916 on the age of 25 and a couple of months. [viii]
On the time he was 5ft 71/4 inches, weighing 147lbs with a tan complexion, truthful
hair and blue eyes – a bricklayer turned Gunner. His chest measurement was 37 ½
inches.

He joined
the 6^th Reinforcements of the 11^th Discipline Artillery
Brigade AIF. His regimental quantity was 27253. His handle was Riverview Street

spouse Mrs Louisa Agnes Carrett care of Mrs Larson Kays Avenue Marrickville then “Heatherdean”
Wardell Street Dulwich Hill, N.S.W. His faith was C of E. He was paid 5
shilling per day. He launched into HMAT Aeneas A60 on 30 September 1916[ix]
 He disembarked at Plymouth 19 November
1916.       

Charles’
service document reveals him continuing from Larkhill to France touchdown in Etaples
21 March 1917.  He’s transferred to the 4^th Divisional Ammunition Column from the eleventh FAB on twenty ninth March after which to the tenth FAB on 4th Could.

I discovered a
Trove article quoting a letter from Charles to his brother Ern in Dubbo.  Charles stated “the ambiance was “so skinny
that he needed to soften the ink to be able to use it.” Englishmen say it’s the
coldest winter for 30 years.  Throughout the
naval scrap, late in January, the useless have been frozen to the deck.  If a person stands nonetheless for a minute his arms
and ft turn out to be numbed.  They have been all
nicely fed and all affordable comforts have been attended to.”[x]

 On 19^th
June 2017 he’s wounded in motion and transferred to York Home Hospital
Folkestone with a gunshot wound to his left foot.  That is prone to have been the within the 2^nd

of the AIF divisions on the Western Entrance.[xi]

In August he
is charged with being Absent With out Go away for 4 days and confined to camp

By February
2018 he’s again in France with the tenth Discipline Artillery Brigade. He was wounded in motion 2 Could 1918 and admitted to
hospital.  His casualty document signifies
that there was a gunshot wound to his 2^nd proper finger handled by
the 5^th London Discipline Ambulance and that he was admitted to the 12^th
USA Hospital at Rouen.   There was a courtroom of Inquiry 7901 Topic
W3428 however discovered to not blame. He rejoined his brigade 1^st June 1918
after which went on go away to England 16 November. 
He returned from go away to France 7^th December however by 18
January was again in hospital sick with a fractured rib in Boulogne.  He was returned to the Army Hospital in
Paddington 3 February 1919 after which to Dartford after which No. 1 Firm Depot
Sutton Veny. He was charged with being Absent With out Go away for a day on 20
February and forfeited a day’s pay.  He
was granted an extension of go away from 28 February to 7 March after which marched
in from London to Weymouth.  He was
returned to Australia from England per “Armagh” on 5 April 1919 and discharged
27 June 1919.

Life Again Dwelling

1928 Sands Listing reveals Ern
Carrett dwelling at Wonga Avenue, Canterbury, George Carrett at Wairoa St,
Campsie and G H Carrett dwelling at Waira St, Canterbury and L Carrett dwelling at
59 Ocean Avenue Kogarah[xii]

1929 Charles and Leslie’s
father died in October[xiii]

1931 Leslie Irving Claude
Carrett is listed within the Australian Electoral Rolls as dwelling at Bollinger
Avenue Parkes, carpenter[xiv] and C.A.S. Carrett
in accordance with the Sands Listing resides at Kyle Parade Hurstville.[xv]

1934 Charles and Leslie’s
mom died in February[xvi]

1935 Charles is listed as
dwelling at Kyle Parade Blakehurst, bricklayer with spouse Louisa Agnes within the
Electoral Roll[xvii]

Senior
Years

In 1951 Leslie’s daughter Betty married Norman Spicer,
supervisor of 2PK radio station at St Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney.[xviii] Betty was of Bollinger
Avenue Parkes.[xix]

Charles and Leslie’s older brother George Henry Charles
Carrett died in 27 December 1953.[xx]

Date and
place of Dying

Leslie died
23 July 1954 aged 58 at Parkes, New South Wales[xxi]

Charles died
on Christmas day in 1964 aged 73 at Kyle Bay, Georges River Council, New South
Wales, Australia. [xxii]

Date and
Place of Burial:

Leslie was buried
within the Outdated Anglican portion of Parkes Basic Cemetery Z31[xxiii]
the subsequent day.[xxiv]

 Charles is
buried at Woronora Memorial Park – Ang 3 0354[xxv]
